Randall set to serve two-year doping ban after appeal fails

STRONG STANCE Mitchell Woodcock

East Perth midfielder Michael Randall’s hopes of playing in 2023 have been dented after his appeal to have a doping violation reduced to 18 months failed at the National Sports Tribunal.

Randall is serving a two-year sentence after testing positive for the prohibited substance phentermine while playing for Peel Thunder, having taken the appetite suppressant Duromine.

East Perth hoped to get Randall’s ban reduced by six months so he could play next year.

The midfielder tested positive while playing for Peel Thunder after a round 16 game against West Perth in 2021, before being provisionally suspended on September 2 that year.
